Three Beautiful Things
Published October 26th, 2006 in It's Really Just All About Me....I’m going to borrow from a site that L.A. Mommy found called “Three Beautiful Things.” I think it’s a great idea — writing about 3 different things, each day, that have given you pleasure. I hate myself sometimes when I get jaded, cynical, and angry. I think those feelings are too easy to come by and require little or no effort to drum up. Why not write about the good things in life?
Here are three great things that really made me smile yesterday:
- Listening to my cat, who was seated on the sofa just over my shoulder, as he purred a loud and rumbly purr in my right ear. It was a sound I could listen to all night long.
- As I was riding my motorcycle between lanes on the way to work, a man in a pickup truck made a huge effort to veer to the side to clear a path for me. It wasn’t someone in a nice car and they were trying to protect an expensive paint job. It was a guy being nice. I gave him my “peace sign” wave, to thank him.
- Watching my daughter make attempts to stop sucking her thumb. She does it when she’s tired. When she was listening to stories I was reading, she would aim her thumb at her mouth but stop short. Then she’d pretend to wipe at her mouth or itch her nose. I haven’t told she can’t suck her thumb but someone must’ve said something to her. She was trying so hard not to do it. It was cute.

My daughter is trying really hard to stop biting her nails. She’ll often hold up her hands and tell us, “I stopped biting my nails!”
Strangely, her fingernails remain very short…
yesterday we did the “I feel loved when…” with my daughter and that was great. she came up with ‘…when daddy gives me a kiss’, when her sister hugs her, when i give her ice-cream
I’m looking around to see if anyone else is doing Three Good Things. I found yours linking from Three Beautiful Things. These are very positive sites. Come check out my blog http://3for365.blogspot.com. I’d love to hear your feedback. Best wishes, -Julia
