Meme-ories

(Un)relaxeddad, over at Relaxed Parents tagged me with a meme (last month! Gulp! Sorry!) and I’m finally getting around to it. Quite a few things have been coming down at me all at once so it was nice to just kick back and answer a few questions. I don’t like to tag folks for these things, but if you’d like to play along — just let me know!

“INSTRUCTIONS: Remove the blog in the top spot from the following list and bump everyone up one place. Then add your blog to the bottom slot, like so.”

Hmm. Formatting. It sounds simple, but I’ll probably mess it up…

1) Shelli’s Sentiments
2) CuriosityKiller
3) MsMamma
4) Relaxed Parents
5) L.A. Daddy
Hey! It worked…

“What were you doing 10 years ago?”

I had moved out to L.A. about 2 years before. And we had just moved to a townhouse. And I was more than likely working on restoring my 1968 GTO. It was pretty much all I did at that point.

“What were you doing 1 year ago?”

Last year, I was just discovering blogs! I was creating my Home Improvement blog and I was trying to find someone who could design the header for my upcoming blog and the one for L.A. Mommy. And I was doing all the other stuff that I’m doing today: writing scripts, directing short films, playing with my daughter, trying hard to make my beautiful wife laugh because she has such a pretty smile.

“Five snacks you enjoy:”

  1. Jelly Beans
  2. Peanuts
  3. Potato Chips
  4. Black Licorice
  5. Beer (is beer a snack? I think it should be…)

“Five songs to which you know all the lyrics”

I soooo don’t remember lyrics anymore. I used to be able to. Now I’m old…

  1. Paul Revere - The Beastie Boys
  2. Everybody Wants to Rule the World - Tears for Fears
  3. Straight to Hell - The Clash
  4. Walk on the Wild Side - Lou Reed
  5. Breathe in the Air - Pink Floyd

“Five things you would do if you were a millionaire:”

  1. Travel, travel, travel, and then travel some more. Every frickin’ continent.
  2. A million bucks doesn’t go very far these days. A million dollars would barely buy me a decent 3 bedroom house here in town… But I’d probably buy a house.
  3. Did I mention travel? Yes. Okay, I would spend more time reading. I have so much reading to catch up on. I figure I could buy myself some reading time.
  4. I would probably buy another classic car or two and a garage where I could work on them.
  5. And I would most definitely set up some type of account to help pay for my kids’ college. Boring, I know.

“Five bad habits:”

  1. Cursing. Like a really nasty sailor. Who is drunk. And pissed off.
  2. Watching too much TV.
  3. Jelly Beans (see #1 of Five Snacks I enjoy)
  4. Wine. I loves my wine.
  5. Not driving as slow in a car as I do on my bike.

“Five things you like doing:”

  1. Reading novels.
  2. Writing
  3. Directing short films. And editing them.
  4. Playing with my daughter.
  5. Riding my motorcycle.

“Five favorite toys:”

  1. My new camera - a Nikon D40.
  2. My motorcycle - it’s a BMW R1100RT
  3. I love my Apple computers. I’ve got a G4 Desktop that I use for editing. And an iBook that I use for writing and the surfing the web.
  4. One of my cars - pictured above. It’s a 1968 LeMans that I have turned into a GTO.
  5. I love iTunes. It’s not really a toy, but it’s a great way to find new music, test it out, and buy it if you like it. And it’s cheaper than buying a CD.

What about you? Do you want to play along? Just follow the instructions above!

On the millionaire question, I’m right with you on all points except I’d trade #4 for a big sailboat instead of cars. Now, excuse me while I run out and pick up some lottery tickets…

I love iTunes as well. It allows me to just sit and play with my music. I don’t have as much time to listen to music, so instead I explore, play the beginnings of songs, do searches, make fun mixes…. I have over 36,000 songs on my computer. There’s no way I could have this much fun with them if not for iTunes!

I second beer being a snack. Do we have to put it to the floor now, or is that good enough for Man Law?

I love iTunes but eMusic is my main exploration tool (’cos I’m a cheapskate!) So with you on the million. Wouldn’t buy a house in London! And I’m off to listen to Straight To Hell right this minute…

Memes are something I always do in the comment boxes, so I hope this isn’t too long =P

    1. Ten years ago, summer 1997, I had just been released from school for a few months. I spent the summer taking courses that would minimize my fall semester workload and then I spent a few weeks visiting my grandparents.

    2. Last summer, I was dealing with some serious reverse culture shock. I had been working and living abroad for awhile and when I came home, I immediately moved in with Fiance. Spending your travel comp days moving? Not a good idea. Use them to rest and move later, that’s my advice!

    3. Five snacks I enjoy are: crepes, tortilla chips, carrot sticks, apples and peanut butter, and ice cubes.

    4. Like I know every lyric to five songs. Ha.

    5. As a millionaire I would: buy a house on at least an acre plot in north county, put money into savings/investments, pay off student loans and such, fix up a chateau near Aix, and buy a dog.

    6. Five bad habits include: never refilling the ice trays and then complaining about them being empty, procrastinating cooking dinner, not responding to emails for weeks, using too much laundry detergent per load in my fear of not having super clean clothes, and forgetting to return library books for at least three weeks.

    7. Things I like to do are: rock climb, read, take photographs, spend time with my family, and backpack.

    8. My five favorite toys are: my camera, the computer, a deck of cards, my iPod/iTunes thingmajig, and probably another deck of cards =)
